About us
Our project MarkoArtWorks started after we completed our studies at Janáček University in Brno. Michaela studied musical theater acting, and I studied jazz piano. After our studies, everything just "clicked," and we began to play and work together on our projects. The MarkoArtWorks project is a combination of our artistic (ART) fields that we are intensively working on (WORKS), and since Michaela and I recently got married, we decided to share my last name MARKO .We have performed together at several public events in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria, as well as at several corporate events for clients such as KPMG, Markíza, Hotel Ritz (Austria), the German Chamber of Commerce, Bekaert, and others.
Currently, alongside our MarkoArtWorks project, we are actively performing concerts in the USA and also in Canada. Here, we are performing with the company Viking, on a ship where we organize musical and film shows and play our own concerts. But there’s no need to worry, the wifi connection is great, and our joint consultations and classes are gaining a global character thanks to this factor! :-)
Alongside active concert performances, both of us are also involved in theater work. I, Tony, work at the City Theatre in Brno, where I serve as a conductor, arranger, and pianist in the orchestra. Miška is also actively involved in the City Theatre Brno, but she guest stars in theaters such as the National Theatre Moravian-Silesian Ostrava, East Bohemian Theatre Pardubice, and others.
In these theaters, we both performed several musical titles such as Chicago, Next to Normal, My Fair Lady, Matilda, Pretty Woman, Mamma Mia, and others.
Alongside our theater-concert journey, I, Tony, have been and occasionally still am involved in various television shows as a pianist. You can see me, for example, in the show I Love Slovakia. You may have also seen me in the show Password (Tv Joj) and in the show 2na1 (Tv Markíza). I have also performed with various groups on the popular channel Tv Markíza. Our program and methods
Both Michaela and I have gone through various schools and workshops, but we draw the most from our personal experiences in concert and teaching work. Our job consists of applying what really works and how to make our music sound great, have a good groove, and create positive interaction with the audience. How to achieve this trio we learned based on our studies, but mainly on several years of experience and also through excellent lessons/consultations with artists around the world, who opened our eyes in many ways. Our goal is to bring music to people of all age groups and to infuse Joy, Simplicity, and Accessibility into music.
Joy
One of the main goals of our work is the joy of music. It is not only one of the fundamental pillars of music in general, but also a part of the teaching activity. We want you to find joy in the new materials and "skills" and to look forward to every moment spent with music.
Simplicity
Another important attribute is simplicity. A person understands a system best when it is simple for them. It is precisely simplicity that we will bring into your musical orientation, allowing you to better understand the complex elements of improvisation or singing.
Accessibility
Last but not least, the accessibility of materials and information is important, as they will always be with you on your musical journey. We will surround you with materials that we have sourced from around the world or created ourselves. They will be a reliable partner on your musical journey with us.
Basically, this trio is one of our slogans that we apply in our courses. We differ from others mainly through our unique and playful approach to music, explaining harmonic and technical rules in practice, and especially by making many seemingly complicated rules accessible. These help our students simply sound much better, and as a result, they enjoy playing and singing more and more. Try a consultation with me or Miška, and we will discuss these rules in more detail. Moreover, the first consultation is completely free, and since we are both lovers of good coffee and tea, we can conduct this consultation in the spirit of the aroma and excellent taste of a cup of coffee.
